BMF is simply a nonprofit organization that seeks tax-deductible contributions to fund, produce, and support its programs. Although we have the word “foundation” in our name we are not a funding organization like many traditional nonprofit foundations. Burnett Music initiatives form the “foundation” of our nonprofit programs: Artists Recording Collective; Bird Boot Camp; Jazz Artistry Now; and, Kansas City Area Youth Jazz.

Our mission is to illuminate and build societal competencies centered upon Jazz music as the only global contribution to the arts originating from the United States by engaging the next generation with the purpose of building a modern living wage arts infrastructure through challenging, meaningful and inspiring experiences.”
